The author gives a sampling of many different scenarios/experiences that he came across as an NYPD officer in Harlem. He gives a good cross section of what police work was like in New York when he was there. He touches on much more than just crime. The book delves into drugs, street crime, inter-departmental politics, working with other cops, and many other things. I recommend it, especially to anyone that wants to enter police work.

This is a great book! I enjoyed each short story. It portrays in the author's words his real life events that occurred while he was a street cop in NYC.
Once I started reading, I found myself wanting to read more. The author depicts the dangers he went through in certain situations but he writes it in a way where it makes you chuckle at the stories. It really makes you realize what a tough and dangerous job cops have.
This book is a great read for everyone and I highly recommend it!!

I must say that I am not a great reader. If I am not interested in the book I tend to not read the whole thing. I like this book,, I like it a lot. It is like I am inside the shoes of someone who decided to be a cop. All the feelings that go with the job are described in this book , and you get a feel for what daily life is for the guys that put it all on the line. I would recommend this book to anyone who has a desire to see , and feel what it is like to spend 20 years of your life serving the public like these guys do. really good book.
I am truly enjoying this book so far. I am about 3/4 of the way done and it's great. I work in the same precinct that the author was in. I know some of the places he is referring to without him saying the name or address. He also talks about things that happen to us all of the time as well as how things used to be and no longer happen. The stories are written in a quick and to the point manner. (Kind of the way a cop talks minus the bad language we love to use). I would and have recommended that s book to family and friends. I can't wait to see what comes next.
Tony worked for me his last year on the job. He was one of the best guys I've had work for me. He was one of the few people I've come across on the job, that needed NO supervision. Tony was a hard worker and I am proud to have worked with him. Reading the book brought back many memories of what the job was like. Like Tony, I am retired and this book made me miss the good old days. Thanks Tony for reminding me of what it was like on the job.
